Designed & animated this logo bump for a travel video. Several sketches in I became very fond of the rounded half cursive writing I'd used on the word "Japan" in passing so I pulled that through to the final design. From there I tried to challenge the notion of the rounded friendly text somewhat with the other elements, although, I do love a round cap on a line I must say.
I've been using a lot of trim paths lately in my work so I tried to incorporate at least a couple different ways to bring items onto the screen. In my mind I'd say I pictured more of a mirage/heat wave type transition for the gradient or "rising sun" shape, but the "sun jelly" effect is fun to watch on a loop too. Can't wait to see the bump on the final piece!
